The Undertaker finally responded to Bray Wyatt’s challenge Monday night on Raw. Wyatt had been teasing the most successful wrestler in WrestleMania history for weeks since popping out of a coffin at Fastlane, and with just a few weeks left before the biggest pay-per-view of the year, The Undertaker’s comeback was confirmed.
In an insanely cool segment, Wyatt gave one of his usual creepy speeches, then mocked The Undertaker’s signature urn. Once Wyatt put the urn down, smoke began to billow out of it and The Undertaker’s ominous theme music played. The arena went pitch black for a moment, and when the lights returned Wyatt’s rocking chair was in the center of the ring. The Undertaker warned Wyatt that he will “rest in peace,” and a bolt of lightning struck Wyatt’s chair.
One year ago, when Brock Lesnar snapped The Undertaker’s 21-year winning streak at WrestleMania, it seemed impossible that Taker would ever return to the sport. It was a perfect ending of sorts. By losing, The Undertaker gave WrestleMania XXX an unforgettable (and controversial) moment, and he helped elevate Lesnar to the main attraction he’s been ever since.
WrestleMania isn’t WrestleMania without The Undertaker, and although he appeared to have lost a step in the ring last year, his entrance alone is reason enough to watch on March 29th.
WrestleMania 31 is only five days away and after a weak closing angle on RAW last night, the main event got a lot more interesting today. Before this afternoon, it seemed like a given that Roman Reigns would be leaving the event as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. But that is no longer a given after Brock Lesnar announced that he re-signed with WWE earlier today.
Who will leave WrestleMania 31 as WWE World Heavyweight Champion? Will WWE continue to go with Lesnar as champion and not have the World title defended at house shows and some pay-per-views? Or will they stick to their original plans and go with Reigns? Could WWE pull a fast one and have Seth Rollins cash in the Money In The Bank briefcase?
